December 12, 2007.
Ike Turner died.
The world looked to Tina.
What would she say?
Two sentences. Eleven words.
"Tina hasn't had any contact with Ike
in more than 30 years.
No further comment will be made."
That same year — Ike had written her
an apology letter.
He held it up in a magazine interview.
He never sent it.
He died with it in his house.
Later Tina told the New York Times:
"I don't know if I could ever forgive
all that Ike ever did to me.
But Ike's dead.
So we don't have to worry about him."
Eleven words.
Everything she needed to say.
Nothing she didn't.
