It’s bewildering that after all these years,
P.P. Arnold might just provide a curious antidote in the history of Rock and Soul.
Discovered on stage as a teenager singing with Ike And Tina Turner by none other than Andrew Loog Oldham and Mick Jagger she was given
a record deal and produced two fine albums in the late 1960’s before disappearing.
In her youth her small stature belied her big voice and at 78, it has not diminished a jot.
Young women in their 20’s and 30’s in the audience are beaming with joy at every subsequent song and P.P. doesn’t disappoint with joy, verve and exuberance.
The irony of P.P. Is, although she only made a handful of records, she has literally sang on everyone’s albums from the original soundtrack to “Jesus Christ Superstar”, Small Faces, Nick Drake, Peter Gabriel to Oasis to name just a handful but it always seem that she does a cover better than anyone else.
Saying that here is a song featured on her last album from 2019 which was the first hit for Tucson’s Queen of 70’s Pop, Linda Ronstadt.’
Relish the special night of P.P. Arnold and her big voice and charm.
