Leaving an abusive relationship is never easy, and it certainly wasn't for Tina Turner.

Tina was undoubtedly born with a great gift: a voice and a wonderful charisma that gave us incredible performances in both music and film.
Her parents abandoned her when she was a child, and she said of herself that she had never received love.

In 1957, at only 18 years old, she met the musician and producer Ike Turner, with whom she had a long professional and personal relationship.
Married to Ike since 1962, Tina worked tirelessly and sometimes went on stage in pain from Turner's beatings, burdened by humiliation and infidelity.

Finally, on July 1, 1976, after years of physical and emotional abuse, Tina fled a hotel in Dallas, Texas, with only 36 cents and blood-stained clothes after a violent fight with Ike. They formally divorced in 1978. Tina was left with nothing material, but she gained her freedom, and although her resurgence took years, she managed to rise to the top and become "the rock singer who filled stadiums like Mick Jagger." Along her path, rebuilding her life, self-love, and Buddhism were also powerful tools in her life. Tina Turner died on May 24, 2023, at the age of 83 at her home in Küsnacht, Switzerland, after a long illness, but her musical legacy and her example of life continue to be inspiring.
