In July 1976, Tina Turner walked out of a Dallas hotel with just 36 cents in her pocket and nowhere to go. 16 years of violence, fear, and broken bones were behind her - and she had nothing left. "I was so exhausted by my life," she said. When the divorce from Ike Turner was finalized in 1978, she walked away with almost nothing: no money, no catalog, no publishing rights.
